According to scientific research an explosion of zinc fireworks occurs when a human egg is activated by a sperm enzyme. Buddhist texts describe the immaterial aspect of this birth of a new life as a spark of the next moment of a consciousness. When the body becomes a corpse, the consciousness goes on, and one moment of the consciousness generates the next. The consciousness acquires a new body and so another life begins.
This video is a compilation of underwater film photographs by Kristina Vegera, music by Raciya Bağdad and video stylization by Ashmita ‘UKIYO’ Shetty. Using liquid paints in water Kristina tended to create an abstract illustration of any genesis process. All other figurative images come from Kristina’s films and UKIYO’s personal archives, symbolizing endless «memory» of a consciousness. Compiling the photographs with the sound of Raciya Bağdad, UKIYO fantasized about the ideas of rebirth and continuity of consciousness.
This work was exhibited in the art program of the outline festival 2024, recieved the g8 prize 2024 in the nomination Genre-bending as well as g8 grand-prix in music 2024
